Instructor Of U.S. Government Course

My name is John Smith and I am a Social Studies teacher at Clinton High School in Clinton, Tennessee. I began my teaching career in 1970 at Central High School in Jackson, Tennessee, where I taught U.S. History. Following that year I began teaching at Clinton High School where I had done my student teaching in 1971. I have taught for 31 years in the Clinton School System, 21 years at Clinton High School and 10 years at Jefferson Junior High School. I have taught a variety of courses including Sociology, Psychology, U.S. Government, Multimedia Government, Civics, U.S. History, Economics, Multimedia Economics and Contemporary Issues, a course that I designed. I have a B.S. degree in Liberal Arts with a major in History and a minor in Psychology, a Master’s degree in Child and Family Studies with an emphasis on Early Childhood Development, and an Educational Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I am certified by the State of Tennessee as a Career Level III Master Teacher. I have also taught in the Clinton Extended Childcare Program for 10 years after school and during the summer, and currently teach a program at the Children’s Museum in Clinton during the summer. In addition to my teaching, I am an outsider artist. My work is with the Henry Boxer Art Gallery in London, England, the Tag Art Gallery in Nashville, Tennessee, and the Webb Gallery in Waxahachie, Texas.
